POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE – TRANSPORT IN POLYMER NETWORKS. A postdoctoral position is available immediately under the joint supervision of Prof. Christopher Evans and Paul Braun at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Project description: The successful candidate will perform research on a currently-funded DOE project to understand how molecules diffuse through dense polymer networks, and how dynamic bonds can be utilized to control mass and ion transport. This research will involve intense collaboration with researchers in the groups of Randy Ewoldt, Charles Sing, and Ken Schwiezer to combine experiments with theory and simulations.

Candidate qualification and selection criteria: We seek interdisciplinary-minded individuals able to work both independently and in teams to accomplish highly collaborative research at the frontiers of polymer chemistry, polymer physics, transport analysis, and molecular engineering. We are looking for creativity, curiosity, diversity and inclusion. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in engineering, materials science, chemistry, polymer science or related discipline with a strong background in synthesis, characterization, and ideally fluorescent methods. Candidates with expertise in rheology, transport measurements, or ionic materials are particularly encouraged to apply.

Details of appointment: The Postdoctoral Scholar position is available in April. An initial appointment with competitive salary and benefits will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and the availability of continued funding.

To apply: contact Prof. Evans (cme365 at illinois.edu) or Prof. Paul Braun (pbraun at illinois.edu). Please provide a cover letter describing prior work and research interests, a CV including a complete list of publications, and contact information for 3 references.
